(WMC-TV) - The FBI will talk with the Shelby County Election Commission Administrator, Richard Holden, and six other election workers in February.

Election Commission Chairman Robert Meyers said the FBI wants to talk about job responsibilities. He also said that they plan to fully cooperate with the investigation and is confident they did nothing illegal.

"It's very concerning to me, and I know the commissioners to have those public statements of no confidence," he said.

This follows a "no confidence" vote for Holden by the Shelby County Commission, in addition to Congressman Steve Cohen's call for Holden to be ousted.

The election commission has had a series of problems dating back to 2010.

In 2014, a school board election was overturned after 3,200 voters received the wrong ballot. A state audit revealed that "poor judgment and mistakes" were the reason for the early voting problem.

Meyers says there have been many improvements since Holden was suspended in 2012 for election problems that year. Holden says he is just doing his job.

"What we do is run elections, and we're focused on running a successful May, August, and November elections," said Holden.

Commissioner Norma Lester says the investigation is a distraction.

"No one knows the extent of their investigation or how long it's going to be," she said. "I think the staff, the morale, and the wondering what's going on. I'm more concerned about the affect it would have on the staff."

Holden was at the commission meeting answering questions as usual from commissioners Wednesday.

The FBI will not comment on their investigation.
