MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – It's Freebie Friday and Lindsey Brown has found a bunch of bargains as you head into the weekend. From a slew of freebies you likely overlook on a popular website, to a deal that helps you watch your credit!

Have you ever looked through all the free items on Craigslist?

There is actually a category called free stuff and one of my favorite things is looking at all the strange and useful items people across the Mid-South list that you can get for free.

On Friday morning, Lindsey saw that someone is giving away 15-gallon plastic barrels. Apparently they don't need them. If you do, they are yours. Or what about this bag of school supplies? Who doesn't need these?

These are just two things listed this week, but any day you'll find anything from furniture, antiques to fire wood. All free. You do need to be very careful when dealing with strangers. Never meet anyone alone and never give them your personal information.

Here on some safety tips from Craigslist:

  • Insist on a public meeting
  • Do not meet in a secluded place or invite strangers in your home
  • Tell a friend or family member where you are going
  • Take your cell phone along
  • Bring a friend along with you
  • Trust your instincts

Speaking of personal information, have you shopped at a Target store?

You now are eligible for free credit monitoring and identity theft protection compliments of Target. This following the company's massive hacking disaster. Even if you don't think you've been affected by the hacking, you can still benefit from the free monitoring.

The free monitoring will be provided by Experian's ProtectMyID. Click here to request an activation code and get more information.

Monday may be a day off work for many of you, but the folks at the National Civil Rights Museum hope you'll make it a day of learning and giving.

They'll give you four free admission passes to the museum if you donate a pint of blood to local blood centers. This free offer is valid from January 20 until 27. If you aren't up for that, you can donate canned food items to the King Holiday food drive and receive a dollar off admission.
