MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Fire investigators are looking for what sparked a huge fire at a Memphis home that had no utilities in the heart of the Westwood community.

The flames could be seen for miles as fire swallowed in the 4300 block of Don Street near Westwood Park that began around 2:30 Wednesday morning.

The brothers living inside are fine, but the house was destroyed.

They were not at home when the fire started, and were alerted by a neighbor that flames were shooting from the roof of the home. Click here to see more photos of the fire.

Once they arrived at the house they saw thick, black smoke coming from the inside of the one story home. The brothers told Action News 5's Amy Speropoulos that they were not there because the home didn't have utilities.

They also say they believe someone snuck in the house to seek refuge from this freezing weather.

Investigators have not confirmed the brothers' claim and say it's too soon to tell the cause of this fire.

The homeowner says he has no insurance on the house and had been living there since 2008.
