Tiger's Chris Crawford accepts shooting challenge

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - With his career coming to an end, Chris Crawford still has some goals.

"I haven't gotten as far as I wanted to go in the tournament," said Crawford. "But that could change in my last year."

It's a career full of accomplishment and memorable moments.

"My favorite games were against Texas-El Paso my Freshman year," said Crawford. "And the Conference USA tournament last season." Crawford was named the C-USA Tournament MVP after a record-breaking 19 three-pointers.

Chris is part of two exclusive Memphis scoring clubs, scoring 1,000 points in his career, and hitting more than 200 threes. Crawford is only the fourth player in school history with that many three-pointers. He's done it all in his hometown of Memphis, where he's a proud graduate of Sheffield High.

"Knowing that you got people in your background, people know you everywhere you go; they expect so much from you," said Crawford. "To know that you have great friends around, is a great feeling."

While Chris isn't shooting at the rate he'd like this season, he still feels his shot's going down every time.

"Like I always say, it's about confidence. If you coaching staff trust you, and the other players trust you, it's bound to start going in."

It's not surprising Chris has confidence, his shot is so automatic it looks like he could hit threes with his eyes closed, so we put him to the test.

I challenged him to a shooting contest, except to make it fair, Chris had to shut his eyes during his shot. We got some passing help from Joe Jackson and Chris hit two out of 10 threes blind. I hit my first three, but couldn't hit more than two and we headed to overtime.

That's where muscle memory took over for Chris, as he hit 2 out of 5 threes in overtime, while I missed all of mine. The loser had to give their best impression of their coach. Watch the above video if you want to see my best shot at being Jarvis.
