(WMC-TV) - Frozen pipes flooded a Cordova church twice in January.

It caused members of Highland Heights Presbyterian in Cordova to congregate for a different reason Wednesday night: to clean up water in the family life center.

"We've got all our tile ripped up from the last time this happened," said Elder Jason Gatlin blaming a busted sprinkler pipe. "The water expands the pipe, cracks it, and then when it starts to melt ... It has to relieve somehow."

This does not mark the first plumbing problem Action News 5 has covered recently during the freezing temperatures. The church's incidents, among others, is presumably caused by a lack of insulation or just old or over-stressed pipes.

"We have a fairly active church. So it's nice to see that we can still rely on people," said Gatlin.
