TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Several law enforcement agencies responded on Thursday night a shooting near exit 100 on Interstate 20/59 in eastern Tuscaloosa County. Authorities say they're looking for a suspect.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night, Lakeview police and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputies responded to a traffic accident on Interstate 20/59 near exit 100. When they got there, they found two cars crashed.

A 40-year-old man was lying on the ground. He had been shot at least once in the chest and was dead. A 37-year-old man had minor injuries from the wreck. He was taken to DCH.

Police spent hours searching for the suspect. They had help from several witnesses. One woman who said the suspect actually came and knocked on her car window while she was stuck in traffic. She says it was the scariest moment of her life. Kenyotta Mayes describes the suspect as a black man, 5'9, and heavyset. She says he was wearing a brown hat, brown jacket and blue jeans.

If you have information that could help police, call Tuscaloosa County Crime Stoppers at 752- STOP.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office source tells FOX6 News Reporter Josh Gauntt this shooting apparently started out as an altercation between two people, which lead to the car accident and shooting.
