Large fire destroys acres of land, building

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

At least nine acres of land in Lauderdale County was destroyed following a fire Saturday.

The fire was located off of County Road 279 in the Central community. Central, Oakland, Cloverdale, Zip City and Underwood Petersville firefighters all responded, as well as forestry and state fire marshal officials.

Firefighters estimated that about nine acres were destroyed and thousands of dollars worth of property was burned or destroyed after the fire reached a building.

Fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. Firefighters responded to multiple fires across Lauderdale County on Saturday.
