AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Alabama and Georgia are both facing blood shortages due to the winter storm, according to multiple blood centers. Life South Community Blood Center also said they are in extreme need of all blood types.

To help combat the crisis, two "Blood Mobiles" are stationed at Opelika's Life South Community Blood Center. The center was closed for more than two days during the snow storm. Now, the center needs blood more than ever.

One of the Life South blood mobiles traveled to Auburn, Alabama to team up with The Country's Best Yogurt located on North Dean Road. Steve Namie with Life South Center is calling it "pint for a pint."

"For a pint of blood donated, you get free frozen yogurt from TCBY," Namie explained. "We are teaming up with TCBY in hopes of encouraging more people to donate blood."

The blood mobiles travel seven days a week in hopes of collecting 17 pints of blood per day. One pint of blood can save 3 lives.

"We are talking about one person saving three different people," Namie explained. "If the community doesn't come out and support us, then we are left stranded. We run on community effort."

According to the American Red Cross, about 51 Red Cross blood drivers were closed due to the snow storm.

On February 1, 2014 only two pints of blood had been donated to Life South blood mobile during the team effort with TCBY. Although Life South is still able to provide blood for the center and other hospitals, Life South still needs daily donations of blood.

"Not working for two days and a half was a huge loss for us, " Namie explained. "It's really devastating. It only takes 20 to 30 minutes to give blood. We provide free shirts, snacks and drinks. Please donate blood. You can save lives."
