(WMC-TV) - Police arrested a college student Friday after announcing he is a person of interest in the armed robbery of a gas station Thursday morning.

University of Mississippi police, who are assisting Jackson authorities, urged students not to approach 22-year-old Bryon Magee if they happened to see him before police did.

Reports show a customer's card was declined at the Exxon Kangaroo Express on Old Canton Road in Jackson, Miss. just before 7 a.m. Police say that customer then came back a few minutes later with a shotgun and stole money.

No shots were fired.

Jackson police issued a warrant for Magee's arrest Thursday night. Ole Miss officials sent out alerts to students stating Magee's current enrollment as a student and that he may be on campus.

"I'm happy to see they did. At least I know they're out there to protect us in case something like that do happen so I know. I really safer," said freshman Shawn Sherman.

Ole Miss police confirmed on their Facebook page that Magee was "apprehended by authorities. He is in the custody of the Hinds County Sheriff's office, and is being questioned by Jackson police.
