Bang for Your Buck: Saving on Valentine’s Day

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) – Valentine's Day is this Friday, have you thought about what you are going to do? Andrew Douglas has five ways to save while still showing your love on this Valentine's Day edition of Bang for Your Buck!

1. When it comes to flowers, you'll find the best deal at the grocery store and even warehouse stores, according to Money Talks News

Ask if those stores keep their flowers refrigerated. If so, then they can be just as long-lasting as those at a florist.

2. For the Valentine's day dinner, stay out of the restaurant and bring your celebration home where it's cozy warm and comfortable.

Burn for your love too, light the fireplace, get some candles and turn on the charm. They don't have to be expensive candles either.

3. Don't overpay for bubbly.

Most people can't tell good Champagne from bad, so go with the Prosecco, which is a sparkling white wine from Italy. A really good bottle will run you $15, a fraction of the cost of Champagne and it tastes great.

4. The last thing you want is a heavy dessert on Valentine's Day.

The best solution can also be an inexpensive one...sorbet. It's inexpensive and it's refreshing at the same time it can look pricey and exotic especially if you buy several flavors. Andrew Douglas recommends tangerine and pomegranate with a sprig of mint.

5. When it comes to Jewelry set a budget and stick to it.

A great pair of earrings won't break the bank and it will shine with love.
