MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Manassas High School recently won second place in the "Get Your School to a Better State" contest, sponsored by The Steve Harvey Show and State Farm Insurance.

Representatives from both organizations will present a check for $7,500 to the school, located at 1111 N. Manassas Street, on February 12 at 9:00 a.m.

Manassas football coach, Carl Coleman, nominated the school for the contest in hopes of securing additional support for its innovative programs, which have increased the graduation rate to 100 percent within three years.

"Principal James R. Griffin, school leader since 2010, has devoted his time to not only increasing academic achievement, but also creating a culture where students recognize the limitless possibilities available to them when they make the pursuit of education a lifelong goal," stated Coleman in his nomination.
