(WMC-TV) - Detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office found a loaded gun and a bag of marijuana inside a locker at Fairley High School Thursday.

Someone walking in the hall reported an odor coming from the locker and told school officials. The principal ordered the locker to be opened. A .40 caliber handgun and drugs were found in a backpack.

Officers located 18-year-old Curtis Walton, who admitted the items belonged to him. He was charged with carrying a weapon on a school campus and simple possession of marijuana.

This is the second gun found at the high school this week, and it marks the 10th gun found on a Shelby County School District campus this school year.
