Inner city high school students raise money for trip to Spain

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) -The chilly Saturday air was no match for the determination of some Frayser students. They are on a mission to fly to Spain this summer.

Eleven International Traveler's Club students need $44,000 to spend a week in Spain at the end of June. They are spending every free moment raising funds. Their deadline to raise the money is March 12.

"We're at about $8,000 now and we're not giving up. No matter what, we're not giving up. We're going to Spain," add Aryell Leake.

On crutches, with a donation sign clenched in his teeth, T'Andre Morris said his basketball injury during an AAU game couldn't stop his goal.

"When you really want something, you've got to commit to it," said Morris.

All the students are Frayser High School juniors and seniors. The school gained national attention in 2011 for a high number of teen moms, and the students say they want to show the positives.
