JACKSON, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A 21-year-old Union University student is being held without bond, accused of killing his fiancee on campus.

Since she was murdered last week, friends of Olivia Greenlee have been remembering just what a special person she was. They say she was one of a kind.

"She was infectious. She was one of those girls who never had a frown. She always lit up when she came into a room," said Hillarie Henderson, who sang with Olivia in choir.

Henderson says Greenlee was looking forward to her August wedding and December graduation.

"She'd immediately just pop out that grin and just giggle. That's probably one of the things I'll miss most about her," she added.

Charles Pittman, Greenlee's fiancé, now faces first-degree murder charges.

In court Tuesday, a judge appointed him a public defender.

Last week, police say Pittman shot Greenlee in the head as she sat in her car on Union University's campus. He is accused of staging the crime scene to make it look like a suicide. Investigators also say he then tried to destroy the clothing he was wearing the night of the murder.

"Once he deceived us, he became a person of interest," said Captain Tyreece Miller, Jackson Police Department.

Police say the couple had no history of violence and the motive for this crime is still under investigation.

Charles Pittman is set to make his second appearance in a Jackson, Tenn. courtroom on February 27 at 9:30 a.m.

Police believe the case will be turned over to a Madison County Grand Jury.
