Henderson student accepted into U.S. Naval Academy

Posted: Updated:

Kentucky Representative Ed Whitfield presented high school senior, Lindsey Critser, with an official notification of her acceptance to the U.S. Naval Academy on Wednesday.

Only about 1,000 men and women get accepted each year of the 10,000 that apply.

They must be nominated by a senator, congressman or other highly ranked official.

"Starting the ROTC program, I never really thought I'd have the option he talked about it freshman year and stuff. I kind of looked into it, and last year I went, and visited all of them. It was just a huge honor now to actually be in this position and get accepted," Critser said.

Lindsey was also accepted to the Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut, where she says she'll more than likely attend.
