CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Emergency crews say one person was killed in a vehicle crash Thursday morning in north Charlotte.

The crash was reported at Eastfield Road and Prosperity Church Road around 5:34 a.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Avis Gray Gabbert, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene after investigators say she crossed the double yellow line in her SUV and hit an oncoming pickup truck head-on.

Raymundo Navarrete Flores, 44, and his passenger in the truck, Elva Roman, 38, were taken by Medic crews to Carolinas Medical Center with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed Eastfield Road between Browne and Prosperity Church Roads while they conducted their investigation.

Investigators say alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 704-432-2169.
