Violent crimes at apartment complex concern authorities

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – The latest shooting at Peppertree Apartments in Memphis, where an innocent child was hurt, is getting the attention of law enforcement and public officials.

A 3-year-old boy hit by a stray bullet at the apartments remains in the hospital Thursday, recovering from a gunshot wound to his stomach.

The shooting was one of several violent crimes in the last 12 months at the Peppertree Apartments and is nothing new to the residents.

Tonight on Action News 5 at 6, Lauren Squires talks with District Attorney Amy Weirich about the problem apartments and Council Member Harold Collins about a possible solution.
