(WMC-TV) - A day care in Batesville, Miss. caught fire Thursday evening during severe weather.

According to Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, no children or workers were injured during the incident at Hoskins Learning Center safely.

"He said, 'Daddy look.' I looked back, and I saw a bolt of lightening. That just went straight down," said Rick Hoskins.

He and his son were driving in torrential rain when they saw the lightning. Hoskins' mother called him to say the day care caught fire.

Ashanti Hoskins says lightning hit the building where infants and young children went for day care; it is next to the main daycare building.

"No one was here. They had just left five minutes before the lightning hit the building ... luckily blessedly no one was here," she said.

The damage is pretty extensive to the front part of the building. Water damaged baby beds and children's toys.

Batesville's fire chief, Tim Taylor, says it appears lightning caused the fire.

The Hoskins family is just grateful no one was hurt.
