CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - The city of Corinth will advertise for bids on the old West Corinth Elementary School property.
City Attorney Wendell Trapp tells the Daily Corinthian (http://bit.ly/1k3s8eu ) that because the National Park Service and the Siege and Battle of Corinth Commission are on record as wanting the property, the bid process is going to take their wishes into account.
Trapp says the bid solicitation will limit the use of the property to something consistent with the historical significance of that property.
The vacant West Corinth school sits on battlefield property across from the interpretive center and the park service wants the land to become part of the Corinth Unit of Shiloh National Military Park.
The campus West elementary school is vacant. The property returned to the city when the school was closed.
