13-year-old killed in accidental shooting identified

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A 13-year-old boy is dead and investigators say a 15-year-old is responsible for what they are calling an accidental shooting.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday at a home on the 600 block of Hillcrest Street.

"I been here 20 years and this is the first time anything ever happened right here," said Clifton Miller, who lives on Hillcrest Street.

Homicide investigators say two friends were in a back bedroom playing with a gun when it "accidentally fired."

Cartrial Robertson, 13, was found dead on the floor. His 15-year-old friend was taken to juvenile hall and charged with reckless homicide.

Miller said he watched as investigators canvassed the whole block.

"Guns, guns these days," he said. "Guns ain't gonna shoot by itself. And a boy that age ain't go no business with a gun. That's the way I look sitting here."

Action News 5's Nick Kenney knocked on the door where the shooting happened, but there was no answer.

Police believe the case is closed and they do not expect to make any other arrests.
