Man admits to driving around mall parking lot selling pot, leaving small children at home

(WMC-TV) - Investigators charged a man with drug-related offenses after he reportedly circled around a mall parking selling marijuana; his young children were left at home alone while he conducted business.

Memphis police say Adam Gaia was known for selling pot around the Oak Court Mall. They received a tip Wednesday and caught up with him. He reportedly had two pounds of marijuana in the front seat of his car.

When officers questioned him Gaia he said, "I was selling marijuana in the parking lot." Gaia told police he was using his deceased uncle's house as a drop point.

Gaia also admitted his two daughters, ages 8 months old and 2 years old, at this home alone. The investigators found another seven pounds of marijuana.

Officers found the two little girls unharmed inside the house.

Gaia remains in jail on drug and aggravated child abuse and neglect charges.

His two children are safe in the custody of their mother as of Thursday. The Tennessee Department of Children's Services plans to follow up on their welfare.
