MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Police in Meridian say the former executive director of a community organization has been booked with embezzlement.
WTOK-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1jEakH0 ) authorities allege 52-year-old Martha L. "M'Lea" Davis embezzled money from the Community Foundation of East Mississippi Inc. while serving as executive director from July 2010 to February.
Davis was fired by the organization earlier this month. At the time, a statement by the organization's board of directors said questionable financial activity had been discovered in January.
The foundation says it supports civic and philanthropic services in Clarke, Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba and Newton counties.
It was not immediately clear whether Davis has an attorney.
