    An alleged stalker that left Mud Island residents on edge is behind bars.

Andrew Douglas is an award winning anchor and reporter and has been a proud member of the WMC-TV family since October 2006. Currently, Andrew serves as the morning and noon co-anchor and as an investigative reporter. You can watch Andrew Monday through Friday on Action News Five at 4:30am-7am and Action News Five at Noon.

In 2011 he was honored by the Tennessee Associated Press in the Best News Anchor category. In 2010 the Associated Press awarded him first place in the State of Tennessee for the best hard news story for his investigation into the gross mismanagement of the Memphis Sexual Assault Resource Center (Memphis Rape Crisis Center). In 2009 the Tennessee AP honored him in the Best Reporter Category. In 2009 he also was nominated for an Emmy for a feature piece regarding a local lawn care company cutting lawns in bikinis. In 2008 Andrew won First Place competing with journalists from 11 states for the coveted Green Eyeshade Award (SPJ). His pieces took an in-depth look at Tennessee State Senator Ophelia Ford and her problems that kept her away from her duties in Nashville. His investigation into former Memphis Mayoral bodyguards getting appointed to six figure city jobs earned him more AP & Emmy nominations.

Before coming to Memphis, Andrew worked at the powerhouse CBS affiliate WHIO-TV in Dayton Ohio. The Society or Professional Journalists awarded him first place in Ohio for 'Best Consumer Reporting' involving his investigation into prescription drugs pricing.  He also earned an award for an undercover investigation into dirty restaurants.  Andrew earned an Emmy nomination for 'Outstanding News Anchor' while serving as WHIO's evening weekend anchor for its top rated newscast.  He remains an active member of the National Television Academy.

Prior to Dayton, Andrew worked in the Mountains of East Tennessee.  He earned an Associated Press award for his  Coverage of Hurricane Bonnie.  His investigation into a Tennessee wedding chapel helped re-write state legislation protecting hundreds of marriages.

Andrew was one of the first journalists hired at the 24 hour Orlando cable station, "Central Florida News 13" in 1997. He covered the NASA space program including live reports from shuttle launches and landings. That same year he was a part of an extensive reporting team that covered Florida's worst ever tornado disaster.

Andrew's first job out of college was a 'one-man-band' in Columbus, Georgia at the CBS affiliate, WRBL. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and began his broadcast career at WUFT-TV and WRUF-AM/FM in Gainesville.

Andrew has interviewed everyone from Former Vice President Dick Cheney to members of ZZ Top. He  interviewed the late civil rights photographer Earnest Withers and Actor John Travolta to country star Kenny Chesney and Martin Luther King III.  He enjoys Beale Street, the Blues and loves Mid-South barbeque!

He grew up in Florida and his wife was born and raised in Memphis.  They have two children.
