Hickory Hill residents continue clean up process

Updated:

Clean-up is underway in Hickory Hill, a difficult task considering this part of Hickory Hill at Maple Tree Drive and Pinbranch Court is in pieces.

William Brown's roof is gone. The inside his house resembles the outside.  Brown was one of hundreds left with little after Tuesday's storms.

Volunteers showed up with food Thursday. Such small things meant so much for a grateful neighborhood.

Through fallen trees, battered homes, and tattered lives, some find a curb and waited for insurance adjusters. Others traded stories.

Neighbors like Eric, David, Terry, and Quinton couldn't forget the terror.

"Scared the...I hate to say it...scared the hell out of me. I been to Vietnam. I been to Iraq. That was scary because I knew I was dead," Lawrence Maden said.

And yet Lawrence Maden, Sr. is still here.
