MEMPHIS (WMC-TV) - The person responsible for killing four adults and two children at a home on Lester Street could still be at large, Memphis Police Lt. Joe Scott said at a press conference Tuesday.

"We believe that the killer did leave the home," Scott said.

Scott pleaded for help from the public with their investigation into the brutal murders.

"We need the community's help," he said. "These are children that were brutally killed or injured at 722 Lester."

Investigators did not stand by and wait for tips to come to them Tuesday.  Rather, they spent the day knocking on doors in the neighborhood, leaving behind contact information if no one was home.

"It's an area where there is some high traffic so we're hoping for anything," Scott said. "We are going to follow up on any leads, no matter how small."

Three additional children were found alive, but critically injured, inside the home. One child has since been upgraded to serious condition, Scott said.

Scott said investigators believe the killings happened sometime between late Saturday night and early Monday evening, when police were called to the house.

If you have information that could aid police, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
