Jamel Major is a reporter for Action News 5.

Jamel comes to Memphis from Birmingham where he served as a reporter for WVTM, NBC 13.  Jamel previously worked as an investigative reporter and anchor for WDAM TV in Hattiesburg, MS.

Prior to that, he was a producer for News 14 Carolina, AOL/ Time Warner's 24 Hour News Channel in Raleigh, NC.

Jamel began his broadcasting career in radio where he worked as a reporter, anchor, and producer for WTMA and WSCC radio in Charleston, SC. 

Jamel is an award winning journalist, receiving the prestigious Howard Lett Newsperson of the Year Award from the Mississippi Associated Press in 2003. 

Jamel is a Charleston, SC native and graduate of the College of Charleston.  He is happy to make Memphis his new home.
