A double dose of rat poop.
That'll get your attention.
It got our attention after the Memphis-Shelby County Health Department cited Church's Fried Chicken, 2405 Airways, for rodent droppings in its storage area a SECOND time.
The Southeast Memphis restaurant failed its health inspection for the second time in three weeks with a 68. In addition to the rodent droppings, the restaurant was cited for hazardous food temperatures and dirty food-contact surfaces.
"We can't talk to the media," said the unidentified manager of the store.
Lorrie Clark, a health department spokesperson, says the inspector requested a permit suspension letter, threatening to shut down Church's Airways location if it failed a third time to correct what the inspector calls critical violations.
Clark says the restaurant did correct those violations and received an 87 on re-inspection.
THIS WEEK'S BIG TIP: Cafe Piazza, 139 S Rowlett St, Collierville, TN? (901) 861-1999?
Restaurant Scorecard viewers voted 4 to 1 for Cafe Piazza as the Best Pizza in our Scorecard nominations. Located in what used to be a home next to the railroad track off of Collierville's town square, it has a wonderful Italian atmosphere, a hustling & friendly staff and killer panini sandwiches and specialty pizzas.
"The BLT pizza is to die for!" exclaimed Kakki Wright, a regular customer from Olive Branch, Mississippi.
WHAT ANDY LIKES: The South pizza (BBQ pork), the Pollo Alfredo pizza, Chicken Ravioli, the restaurant's decor.
